Frequently Asked Questions

What is an acceptable format to send documents?

The preferred format is a Microsoft Word document. Other formats such as PDF or Publisher will be accepted on a case by case basis.

How long will it take to get my documents back?

The time it takes to get your document back will vary based on its length and the edits needed. Most documents under five pages can be completed within 10 business days after payment has been received unless another completion date is listed on your quote. Documents submitted for Spanish translation could take longer to complete. An estimated completion date will be stated on your quote/invoice.

What if I don’t agree with your edits?

All of our edits are suggestions. You may choose to accept all or none of them but will still be charged for the services provided to you. There are no refunds or cancellations. All edits are final.

Can you do a follow-up or second appraisal on the same document?

Yes. However, a follow-up or a second appraisal will require a new quote.

How much will it cost to assess and edit my document(s)?

Your quote will detail the cost of the project. Any additions, alterations, changes in content, layout or process changes may alter time and cost and will result in a new quote.

How does PlainPages decide how many pages my document is?

A page is 250 words or less. It isn't based on a physical page.

Can I send a Spanish document for a readability assessment and editing?

No. Plainpages only accepts English documents. We will assess your English documents, edit them using plain language best practices then translate the plain language version into Spanish.

If I previously had a document edited by PlainPages, can it be translated into Spanish?

Yes. Please contact us for a custom quote.
